Did you click on the link to the Scottish Mountaineering Council pdf regarding the matter?

I near spat my tea out wondering if the first pic is a walker smelling his own sh*t or taking a drink lol.

Brilliant, that's hilarious.  :)

I've done a few multi-day trips and the most important thing to remember is that in Western Europe your never more than 3 hours walk away from food and a toilet: no matter where you are. Therefore don't make it any more difficult than it needs to be. If your hiking for the three days schedule in a wee stop to a cafe or shop and use the facilities. If your walking for a few days you'll actually need to plan not to hit civilisation at some point. Don't fight it: embrace the facilities where you find them.

Twentyclicks is over doing the West Highland Way at the moment. It will be interesting to hear how that goes.

Ouch! I'll not derail the thread with the details (blog and/or thread tomorrow), suffice to say all done and the weather was perfect.

As others have said, you're never 'wild' for that long at a time. You need the same stuff as an overnighter, just more food. With dehydrated and energy-dense foods you would probably aim to carry about 1kg/day. You should be able to get 3500-4000 calories from this if you choose well. Sufficient protein can sometimes be hard to come by in these forms, but I carry whey powder if I need it.
