New One
« on: November 12, 2011 »

Hi my name is Adam, im 20 and im located in north down and my main interests are camping and hill walking. Been to scout camps all over europe since the age of 4 as my dad was a scout leader for 30 odd years then joined them when i was the right age so im well used to the outdoors you could say  :)
I get away as often as i can, usually every weekend in the summer and a few around winter in the tent (as the girlfriend wouldnt bivvy out) but i am looking to get away a lot more without the tent so if anyone arranges any nights up the mournes (the place i call second home) then i will be interested in going

Feel free to talk or leave messages

Welcome along Adam, plenty off stuff happening here with nights in the hills being organised. Have a wee look at the Christmas Camp thread. http://www.ni-wild.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=2561.0

Not just bivvying for me, mine hates anything outdoors.

Welcome Adam,

I was a scout leader too many years ago. I got out it after 15 years service...  It was scouts that got me into hillwalking. I haven't camped wild in a long while. Also never bivvied either. Going by this forum, there are plenty of opportunity to bivvy out. I just don't have the right equipment. All I have is a big orange bag....

Enjoy the forum.

Adam, welcome to NI-Wild. You seem to have plenty of experience in camping.

Keep an eye to the forum as usually someone is doing something which you may well like to join in on.

Other half not fussed?  Maybe that's not such a bad thing as we all need our own space from time to time. ;)

Thanks again for the welcome everyone.

What group were you a leader of Daithi2004? I know exactly what your talking about...the big orange bin bags, they come in handy though, light too carry and easy enough to pack so there a must.
